Fall Inspired Edible Favors

Published by andbutterfliestoo@gmail.com on

Fall – I love this time of the year! I especially enjoy preparing for and sharing with dinner guests cleverly wrapped edible goodies reflective of the season to take home after a tasty meal. The bountiful fruits and veggies collected from area farmers markets always inspires my culinary creativity to new heights and nudges me to share the results of freshly baked goods with dinner guests and family. This time of the year my kitchen counters all but overflow with fresh fruits and vegetables all ready to be prepared and stuffed in mason jars, colorful paper cartons, and/or brown to go boxes with pretty little tissue paper, cellophane wrap and a variety of twine and ribbon. Whether a dinner party or for your wedding day, instead of sending guests home with trinkets that will likely sit around collecting dust, give them a treat they won’t be able to resist digging into. Edible favors helps your guests to commemorate your celebration or the wonderful evening you spent with them and enjoy it a little bit more. Some of the best fall edible favors guests take away are caramel apples or apples in chocolate and nuts – so delicious and so autumn like! Caramel apples are the quintessential fall indulgence. Have them packaged individually and tied off with a pretty ribbon that matches your colors for the evening so guests can grab the treat as they exit. Chocolate is always a favorite favor, so consider chocolates in the shapes of maple leaves and acorns. Few things represent the fall season better than maple syrup. Give mini maple syrup bottles to your guests as a sweet thank you, or include them in farewell bags at the post wedding brunch for all to enjoy with their breakfast. A pumpkin or an apple for every guest is ideal for a rustic wedding. My favorite favor idea is cookies or just mini cakes with some fruit, berries or pumpkin spice – oh so yummy! However, if you’ve exhausted your sweet tooth just looking at these favors, don’t forget you can go savory! For a more nourishing edible favor, treat your guests to some comfort food with a bean soup mix. You can present the dry ingredients and a recipe card in a food-safe plastic bag, or seal it into a mason jar for a neat tidy transport. The list is as long as your creative spirit.  Happy Fall Butterflies!!!
