WHAT’S OLD IS NEW AGAIN

Everything from the wedding décor and reception table settings to bridal gown design has a special aura of nostalgia.

This week, as a continuation of our celebrating female strength, friendships and the kick-ass women who are determined to do their own thing, we sat down with our friend and business confidante, Maggie Herman to highlight through pictures the many ways you can incorporate antique items into your big day.  Maggie is the owner of Things You Love Antiques & Gifts.  She fell in love with repurposing antique and vintage finds over 20+ years ago and decided to set-up her very own little shop.  The quaint little shop features repurposed furniture, unique home décor, and jewelry and is housed in a charming historic log cabin in Reisterstown, Maryland.  Maggie loves turning the old into new– a lady after my own heart!

We both agree, that what was once considered old is new again.  That vintage ambiance is definitely all the rage among wedding parties. Everything from the wedding décor and reception table settings to bridal gown design has a special aura of nostalgia.  As an event planner – I looooooove it!  In fact, vintage weddings are one of my favorite themes: it’s classic, elegant, and timeless.  A vintage wedding theme gives you a countless number of motif-inspired variations to choose from which are as uniquely different as the bride and groom.

You can never have too many vintage plates

Sure you can find vintage-styled items in almost any traditional brick and mortar or on-line store, but why when you can go directly to an authentic antique shop like Things You Love Antiques & Gifts. On weekends when I’m not overseeing an event or doing household chores, this wonderful little shop is usually my early Saturday afternoon muse.  The layout of the store invites you to explore, and there is something charming and romantic about going from room to room and finding treasures from another time and place that makes my heart skip a beat.  Whether it’s a touch of vintage lace to dress up a tablescape or a vintage typewriter paired with love letters for a great book table, these lovely details become a part of a new story.  From farm tables, pews, bar carts, soft seating, windows, doors, lighting a vast array of table top décor and props, Maggie is sure to have it.  It really is an amazing treasure trove perfect for not only vintage weddings brides, but for anyone who loves incorporating a little old-world charm of bygone days into their entertaining experience.  So grab that cup of tea, sat back and scroll through the many different ways to use antique and vintage finds.
